3rd Degree Burns Makeup | Special Effects

Cuts, wounds, anything bloody - right up my street. So funny because when I was younger I used to be afraid of blood and get that woozy feeling at the sight of it. Now I've did a complete 360 and regularly search injuries and would be the first to look.

For this makeup I used silicone - My favourite. To be honest, I can't cope with seeing so much latex and tissue around (very old technique) unless I am teaching someone who doesn't do makeup. That way its cheap and less technical.

To colour the makeup; I used alcohol activated paints, with some congealed blood.

Hope this inspires you or helps you create what you are after! Of course if you ever recreate any of my makeups, email them to me @ beccadurrans@gmail.com or link me! I love it.

Thanks for reading xx

Wounding.. my friends | Special effects Makeup

Just more of the simple stuff. I now have a lot of time for my blog, uni is finished! I have accumulated many pictures from throughout the year that I was too busy to post about. I like to document everything on here, my posts help me see everything a lot more clearly and it is like a diary for me. You guys still search for me so I figure why not, hopefully these are not too dull.

Playing around with silicones, probably my favourite medium to work with, blends super easy. There isn't really a story to this makeup, I was literally just playing here and there with no thought. I think the would around the eye looks the most realistic.

Get used to this little face, we are moving in together in a few weeks. More of the same, Poppy kindly being my model. Nothing particularly special about these looks, or anything I am truly happy with, just playing around. I think I used wax for all of this, back to basics.

Thanks for reading! Also I changed my blog name back to 'BECCASBEAUTYSPOT.BLOGSPOT.COM' as I found a lot of you could not find me anymore! I guess that will have to stick because I've been doing this too long! xoxox

Quick fire casualty makeups | sfx makeup

I am no longer going to make promises on my blog, cause that ends in failure, I will always post and never abandon it, but I really struggle to find time at the moment, for instance working and uni over 2 weeks in a row no days off and have to fit uni work in to that aswell. I am even doing this post off my phone before uni, so if there are a mix of more simple posts that's why! Anyways this is just some bits I've did in class recently, bare in mind only had 10-15 mins to create concept, the piece and paint it! Kind of like quick fire casualty makeup!

Burnt fingers with latex, tissue, blood and grease paint.

Wound made with wax and blood.

Cuts made with silicone, blood and grease paint.

Obviously my fav #selfieeee haha

Hope this post was still interesting even if I did do it on my phone, no pics are edited so that way you can see everything in reality which is good! Thanks for reading! Xox

Burns and Open Wound (Warning! Gory!) | Sfx Makeup

At the moment any SFX makeup I do is all self teaching, I have really no grasp of firm techniques yet (Start class in over a week!) I just try and recreate from my head and the small bits and pieces I have bought to practise with. For this I used latex and tissue, fake blood and a mehron bruise wheel. I am quite happy with the results and I usually when it scares my mum I know I'm somewhat on the right lines, haha!
Follow my blog for my journey through my Special Effects Makeup Degree, I will blog everything I create and you can see what I learn and hopefully how I improve.

Pop Art | 15 Minute Fancy Dress/Halloween Makeup

I'll be the first to admit this isn't my best work, but I had a spare 15 or so minutes of boredom and this is the quick look I came up with! This is a great makeup to do if you have a last minute fancy dress party or if you are looking for low maintenance Halloween ideas (very early! lol) It's pop art inspired so basically you're outfit can be anything you want, I would definitely go with bright colours and maybe colour blocking!

Last Minute Nights Out | Outfit & Makeup

Outfit:
Dress: Topshop
Belt: River Island
Bag: Primark
Necklace: Matalan

Last minute nights out are always a bit stressful, especially on a Monday night with work at 8am the next day, (lol) but this is what I through together. Just a quick post to get me back into the swing of things as I know I've been neglecting my blog. The last two months have flown by, I've been on holiday to Ibiza, I'm now two days away from finishing my job and I'm currently getting ready for Manchester in September, which includes buying a HUGE makeup kit (obviously post will come when it's all here, exciting stuff).

Stay tuned, I'm getting back on track now that I will have more spare time! xox

How to look absolutely disgusting? | Zombie Special Effects Makeup

Trying to post more about Special effects or a theatrical makeup. I know the point in these pictures is too look absolutely horrific but it's still not my favourite thing to put out there, being a girl! Don't get me wrong this is my dream and I absolutely love it but I'd much prefer not to be the model.

Anyways this is my take on a Gory, Zombie look! (I am only self teaching at the moment) Hope it inspires anyone who also want to go into this career or enjoys makeup.

Products I used:
Mehron Bruise wheel
White face paint
Fake blood
Latex

I just got mugged | Special effects Makeup

Once again just playing around with some simple special effects techniques, especially because the more you practise and take photographs, the more you can pin point what looks realistic!

I am happy with the bust lip but as I look closely at the pictures I can see the latex around the cheekbone isn't as blended as I would like, but that's exactly my point on the importance of photographing yourself. What looks perfect in real life, may be picked up different in the light of a camera. If it doesn't work on camera then your skills are useless!

Products used:
Liquid latex
Tissue
Mehron Bruise wheel
Fake blood (very little, as I went for more scabbed look, as if this was a couple of hours later)
Black gel liner
