Fairytale Assessment | Good Witch from Oz | Black and White

My black in white assessment from last week, keep in mind, I set up studio and do all photography aswell as costume, props, hair and makeup (and never enough time to prep). My concept was the good witch from Oz after she had been in a fight with the wicked witch but with obviously a more modern twist.

Hope this is some inspiration to some of you! Getting your work photographed is a great way to learn, especially for me as I am very critical of myself!

Dark Lips For Winter | Mac Rebel

My favourite makeup trend for winter is definitely dark lips! Probably brought into fashion mainstream by Rhianna, so many of us are jumping on the band wagon! Do be prepared for endless stares and total confusion from boys, but also lots of compliments from girls who actually get it the look haha! In the above pics I am wearing Rebel my Mac, a dark purple, as I am right infront of my window it does show up black (Lighting not great) but it's not as dark in reality. Topshop and Rimmel do cheaper options if you do not want to commit to the price of Mac especially if you are wary!

Step outside your comfort zone and try the vamp look!

Retail Therapy | Illamasqua, Liz Earle & Soap and Glory

Every girl needs a little retail therapy, today was my day. If you read blogs, and watch youtube beauty videos you always have a list of recommendations and products you want to try! This is basically everything I have been lusting after recently!

I am really starting to get into Illamasqua at the moment, I am starting to get a bit bored of Mac products (The past couple of years that is all I have bought) and the artists at Illamasqua are always so quirky and fun! I bought the hydra veil primer (my flatmates got it recently and love it) eyebrow cake in motto and their concealer in cc210. I know the eyebrow colour is grey, but that's the colour ashy blondes or white/purple hair should use, avoid any colours with warmth! It doesn't look as grey and scary on the brows!

These are all repurchases, I never brought any of these over to Manchester with me, and nothing beats them! I am in love with the scent, if you haven't tried any they are a must!

Eventually jumped on the bandwagon, after so many people absolutely love this. In this set I got the Liz Earle cleanse and polish and 2 muslin cloths!

Let me know if you like or have tried any of these products! Thanks for reading xoxox

Headshot Assessment | Hair and Makeup Design | Styling for the Camera | Photography

If only life where easier and we didn't have to photograph our work! I feel that is the main thing letting me down here, the look doesn't translate as well when I photographed it!

Hope you enjoyed having a look anyways, thanks for reading my blog!

Satan's Keeper | Halloween Look

Some more inspiration for Halloween, I am so busy at the moment it's hard to post as many looks but I will try my best before Halloween! Next week I am working on prosthetics for a production called Spooky Tours. Anyways this one reminds me of Satan's Keeper or could even be an evil clown!
I only used face paints, black eyeshadow and liquid fake blood! An easy one as you don't need many supplies.

Crazy Goth/Witch/Demon | Halloween Makeup

Starting off my series of halloween looks with one that can basically go with a lot of ideas, witch, demon, goth, evil superhero (my favourite) and it isn't too unattractive, for the single girls haha.

Pale out face, I used illamasqua rich liquid foundation in pure white, this is optional you could make it simple and just do the eyes. Then from here shade round eyes and out to temples with red, then blend the edges of that with an orange/yellow. Finally for eyes fill in the black smokey eye (gel eyeliner/black facepaint first and set with black eyeshadow), doing it in this order helps everything blend smoother, as if you started with black it would look mostly black and grey, the other colours wouldn't show. Messily draw lines on for viens, do not worry about being symmetrical as it adds to the effect! For black lips, you do not need to buy a black lipstick unless you want too but use gel eyeliner (or whatever you used for eyes) and set with black eyeshadow then apply some gloss! Not straight from wand or you'll ruin the applicator with the black!

Ombre Lips + Subtle Glitter Smokey eye | FOTN

I really love how much difference makeup can be between black and white and colour. I have started photography classes and it has recently come to my attention. The whole atmosphere/theme/of a photograph changes between both of them.

Anyways this is quite a dramatic look, full on black smokey eye, glitter, and a bright pink ombre lip! Definitely one I'd wear on a night out but not that there are any makeup rules, take whatever inspires you from this! I've always been really inspired by the signature Mary-Kate and Ashley olsen smokey eye (they take the black right round the eyes and quite far underneath) and this is the eyeshadow shape I went for. Ombre lips are really easy to do, all you need is a lighter and a darker shade. This doesn't just have to be pinks, could be reds, oranges or even black and grey for halloween or a goth look! Trick is outline with dark, fill in with light and rub lips together lightly to blend, or if it smudges too much use a small lip brush to be more precise! They really make your lip shape stand out and it just makes everything overall a bit more modern and interesting. If you are looking to wear this for a longer time get a lip coat (clear liquid that you brush overtop to seal it in place and make more waterproof) to make it longer lasting!

Let me know if you liked this look and if anyone tried it out! Lots of halloween looks coming soon! xoxox

Cat/Tiger Facepaint | Halloween Look

Hey everyone!
Just a quick facepaint/theatrical look for halloween or fancy dress! I was just doing this randomly from my head so it is a bit of a mix between a tiger and a cat! Take your pick! Probably could do with more orange but I didn't have any at the time so just a tip!

(Some items are also out of stock, concealers & palettes, also not swatching as I am not using until class)

I'm going to split it all up and do several posts on it all because when I was researching this course I couldn't find anything like this and I would love to see it all, plus it is all very expensive which is definitely food for thought.

Burns and Open Wound (Warning! Gory!) | Sfx Makeup

At the moment any SFX makeup I do is all self teaching, I have really no grasp of firm techniques yet (Start class in over a week!) I just try and recreate from my head and the small bits and pieces I have bought to practise with. For this I used latex and tissue, fake blood and a mehron bruise wheel. I am quite happy with the results and I usually when it scares my mum I know I'm somewhat on the right lines, haha!
Follow my blog for my journey through my Special Effects Makeup Degree, I will blog everything I create and you can see what I learn and hopefully how I improve.

Pop Art | 15 Minute Fancy Dress/Halloween Makeup

I'll be the first to admit this isn't my best work, but I had a spare 15 or so minutes of boredom and this is the quick look I came up with! This is a great makeup to do if you have a last minute fancy dress party or if you are looking for low maintenance Halloween ideas (very early! lol) It's pop art inspired so basically you're outfit can be anything you want, I would definitely go with bright colours and maybe colour blocking!

Products I've hit pan on | 2

If you're not familiar with the term "hitting pan" it basically just means that you've used enough
of the product to show the bottom of the pan (packaging).
It shows products that I really do love and use on a regular basis!

This post has caused me quite a lot of problems and I was just about to give up when my camera batteries had ran out and couldn't find anymore but then I had a thought. So here's a retake of this post improvising with my webcam. Hopefully this doesn't come out too bad, but I do think the lighting in these products is very true to life, which is the main reason I'm not giving up! Also feel like it makes the post a little more personal, so here goes..

My every day blush and bronzer combination.
Mac Crème Blush in Something Special
Dior Bronze 002 Honey Tan

My everyday powder blush option (I basically used this everyday before I bought the Mac one above, but they still great together if you want to set the crème blush for a matte finish) This is so cheap, so I think everyone needs to own this, amazing for oily skin as it is matte!
Natural Collection in Pink Cloud

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium. This is my handbag powder because it's so low maintenance, you can literally put this on forever and never look cakey. Amazing for quick touch ups without a mirror. This is the first thing I will be purchasing again.

Stila Angel light powder in shade e (refill pan) this is marketed as a foundation powder however because of the colouring it worked so well as a contour for me, literally used it everyday I had it. If anyone can recommend a matte powder this sort of warm beige colour, comment below! Looking for alternatives, because as a brand I don't feel Stila is worth the high end price.
