A New Skin Discovery & Saver - that won't break the bank!

Ok the wonderful beauty of Tea Tree Oil. I have always been a skeptic, bought products infused with the oil in the past blah blah nothing spectacular. But then I had mega breakouts and a huge skin reaction to the point where I literally had a full face of acne (Or what it felt like to me anyways).

If you have a favourite youtuber do you tend to go back and rewatch some of their old videos? Well I do, and this is where I rediscovered Jess from Sunbeamsjess's skincare routine. She has always been huge on tea tree oil and using it with other natural/non comedogenic products to help prevent and treat her skin. So when I was in B&M (large store with various cheap products from food to home) I picked up a bottle of pure tea tree oil for around £2 and I haven't looked back. That's also a great point you kind find it out there very cheap- maybe even in the pound shops!

I have realized that with my skin, less is much more. I can't use lots of fancy products and now if anything I have the fear of trying new things.

How I use tree tree oil:

Cleanse twice with Garnier Micellar water

Remove eyemakeup with Garnier Skin Fresh eyemakeup remover

I will then do another cotton pad of Micellar water if I feel I need it (heavy makeup day)

Then I was take a liberal amount of Tea tree oil (I know a lot of people online say use 1-2 drops and pin point it, yes if you have really dry skin) I shake the bottle until I get around 7-10 drops on a large cotton pad and I sweep it all over my face and chest. Not close to my eyes as it will STING.

I don't apply any moisturizer or any products after and go to sleep. In the morning I will apply the Sanctuary Spa Deep cleansing matte hydra lotion before my makeup. Obviously this is a routine for my skin and mine is quite oily these days so add in more products to tailor your own needs!

I have been doing this routine every night for around 2 weeks and the difference in my skin is beyond positive. All spots are now gone - just some marks and scarring left which is annoying but no bumps! If I do get a fresh spot it seems to dry up hugely after one night. The texture of my skin is much smoother and I feel much more confident.

By the way, if you get tea tree oil be prepared for people asking what's that smell?? It happens alot! But I personally am a fan, I just think it is very strong.

Nivea Effective Cleansing Gel | Can't Get enough of it!

A couple of months in and I've around 1/4 left. I bought this on a whim on a random shop in Superdrug, it was on sale for £1.99 and literally just sucked me in. I honestly expected it to break me out or not to like it and for it to take comfort unfortunately at the back of my cupboard like a lot of unwanted products.

 

But low and behold, I love this product, firstly I have to say it is only going to be suited to people who have combination to oily skin because it is an oil free gel cleanser which means it doesn't have any moisturising qualities. I only use this at night because I have a separate day time routine (not that you couldn't use it) and it leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean, the perfect feeling for going to bed. It hasn't broke me out and I can use it around my eyes to take my eye makeup off (it doesn't sting me).

Recent Weekend Purchases

I popped into boots the other day and made a sort of impulse buy, I've never tried this brand but I'm easily swayed by a special offer. Both these Vitamin E creams (day and night) were only £4 for both! I only used them last night and this morning and so far so good, they spell gorgeous and fresh and are a light texture. Not to heavy for my combination skin (they say for all skin types but they wouldn't suit overly oily skin).



I was also in Superdrug today and I picked up these two pencils from the MUA stand. Both a pound each, bargin. I love the eyeliner it's a lovely warm brown which I think goes well with my blue eyes and I plan to wear this smudged along my bottom lash line. I also picked up this blonde brow pencil, never seen them before but I'm excited to try it out and the colour seems a good match!



I also picked up this Sally Hanson cuticle oil in TK Maxx because I got gel nails on for my holidays 3 weeks ago, they lasted well and I love them but naturally my nails are in horrible condition, weak and peel but now after the gels, my nails are AWFUL! Hopefully this oil will help!



Picked up this top in the H&M sale, usually its all rubbish or big sizes but with these types of tops I can get away with a couple of sizes bigger and then wear it with leggings!



I also got this cute passport cover from TK Maxx, it's so cute!

Cheap Skincare, That Works!

Mud Therapy Deep Cleansing Mud Mask £2.59 from Superdrug

I've had this mask for quite a long time now and have used it many, many times. But specifically only when I'm having one of those really bad skin days, multiple spots, usually on my chin which is hormonal ladies and I am in need of a serious quick fix! I apply this mask all over freshly cleansed skin at night, leave for about half an hour (it dries n hardens so you will know when its ready to remove) and by the morning my breakouts are usually significantly reduced. I don't use this mask as a weekly treatment or anything because frankly I'm too lazy or never remember and I do think it would probably dry my skin out too if I did. So which is why I only save it for those horrendous days. Maybe if you had acne or super oily skin you could. I know this product is nothing fancy but I definately thought it was worth a post for the price alone! Completely barginous at less the £3.

Mental note for myself to check out more products from this range next time I'm in Superdrug, have any of you guys?
